Since its establishment in 1902, the KVCC has been devoted to the sport of tennis. Since those early years, the tennis program and facilities have continued to evolve to support the interests of KVCC members. 

The KVCC has six regulation Har-Tru® courts, a fully-equipped Pro Shop, a hitting wall and a full time USPTA Pro.

The KVCC offers a full range of lesson options, tournaments and activities throughout the season for all ages and skill levels.

Weekly Activities

The KVCC offers a number of regular weekly programs to promote friendly competition, fun and skill development.

Junior Round Robin 
The weekly drop-in junior event. About 1.5 hours. Winner usually gets a can of balls!

Adult Round Robin
Essentially the same as the Wednesday Mixer. Sometimes attended by some of our better juniors, the premium is on balanced teams and fun.
Every Wednesday
@ 2pm
Adult Round Robin Mixer
(Tennis, that is) An Adult drop-in mixer lasting approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. Come solo or bring a partner. Everyone plays everyone! Very social.

Special Events

Every season, the KVCC organizes a variety of annual tennis events. Active participation is encouraged. See you on the courts!

Event
Adult Doubles Qualifiers
A round robin qualifier resulting in two top teams who advance to the Championship match scheduled the following day. Qualifiers generally last about 2 hours.
Adult Doubles Championship Match
The two teams advancing from the prior day's qualifying matches play a regular best of 3 set match the season's championship title. There is some latitude in scheduling the final according to participant’s schedules. Final is presided over by the club professional. No foot faults!
George McClelland Memorial Tournament 
This extremely popular event honors the legacy of George McClelland by mixing camaraderie with vintage wooden racquets to bring us back to a time when power was not the singular order of the day. Bring a partner for this seriously fun event. Donations of $10 per player are requested. Plan on 2 hours of play starting at 10:00 AM and then an hour to kick back and watch the finalists play a championship set!

Adult Mens Singles Championship Open Division
All will be a round robin format with the top two of each division qualifying for a best-of-3 set final. 
Parent/Child Senior Tournament 
For juniors 13-18 and their parent or “aunt/uncle”. Round robin format starts at 10:00 AM and runs about 2.5 hours.
Parent/Child Junior Tournament 
For 12 and under juniors. Also a round robin format, historically 2 divisions have been created for this event where the 8 and unders can get involved serving from the service line. Pro reserves the right to make last minute alterations to age categories based on skill and participation, so if you’re interested sign up so we can sort out the divisions early!

For more advanced kids.  These players are groomed for inter-clubs and the annual USTA junior event.


* If there are only 1 or 2 participants for a scheduled clinic, Bucar reserves the right to shorten the length of the clinic as he sees fit, allotting a reasonable amount of time based on his general hourly rate.

Our Pro

Mike Bucar is a 30 year USPTA Pro and holds their highest teaching designation of Pro 1. He has headed the tennis program at the KVCC for past 23 years and has been responsible for building a thriving program for adults and kids.

Earlier in his career, Mike worked at the prestigious Rick Macci International Tennis Academy (where he was hitting partners with then 10 and 12 year-old Serena & Venus Williams).

Mike Played tennis for Tabor Academy in his hometown of Marion, MA. He later graduated from Skidmore College, where he was the Captain and MVP of the men’s tennis team. In 1996, Mike was ranked No. 4 in the state of Florida in Men's 35 & Over Singles. In May 2017, Mike earned an MBA degree from Lynn University.

Rules and Regulations

1. KVCC tennis courts are available on a first come first serve basis.

2. The court sign-up is located on a kiosk adjacent to court #2. Players should sign their name and the time on the board under the appropriate court number.

3. Courts may only be reserved by players present and ready to play. To reserve courts, players should place their name underneath the name(s) of those who are already playing. Use of the court is forfeited to another waiting player if the player on the reservation is not present.

4. Players, who have not signed up on the court sign-up board, may be immediately bumped if all courts are in use and another player has signed up for a court.

5. During periods of heavy court use, members should restrict their play to 1 hour for singles and 1 ½ hours for doubles.

6. Tennis shoes should be worn on the courts at all times.

7. Shirts or other appropriate tops must be worn on the courts.

8. The Club Manager has complete authority to determine when courts are ready to play and only they may raise the nets.
